This article describes how dermatologists have seen in increase in chilblain-like lesions in younger patient’s toes, a phenomenon typically caused by exposure to cold air, despite the warmer weather, leading them to believe it may be result of inflammation caused by coronavirus infection. Many patients with so-called ‘Covid-Toe’ have tested positive for COVID-19; however, some have also tested negative which may because they have a mild case of the disease in which viral loads are undetectable. Despite the lack of a proven causal relationship, many dermatologists are calling for ‘Covid-Toe’ to be deemed as acceptable criteria for coronavirus testing.
