California governor approves additional food stamp benefits for families with children qualifying for free or reduced lunch

Governor Gavin Newsom recently announced that the state of California will be providing additional food stamp benefits to low-income families who have children that qualify for free or reduced lunch. These families will receive an additional $365 per child to use in the next two months in an effort to make up for the loss of meals provided to children while schools were in session. Newsom’s changes to the food stamp program will reach an estimated 3.8 million families in the state of California.
