This is a collection of photo essays from different photographers around the country, curated/produced by the New York Times. “In this unnatural state of isolation,” the subheading reads, “photographers show us the things that bind.”
Almost all of the photos are taken within the confines of the photographers’ homes; kids run around, older relatives appear, flowers spring from the ground in back gardens. Some images capture despair, others emanate hope, and most of them put us in a state of suspension.
People have very different feelings towards home during this time, and I’m glad to see an ever expanding catalogue of those experiences in the form of art as the weeks drag on (I made another post about a NYT collection of illustrations made by artists from inside their NYC apartments).
