Developed by Inovio Pharmaceuticals, a novel plasmid DNA-based vaccine to prevent COVID-19 has started its first phase of clinical testing with humans. Unlike traditional vaccines, this one will artificially incorporate the DNA of antibodies that destroy the virus into the patient’s own cells. This way, all cells are equipped to fight off the infection.
